ہر سطر، چار انداز میں

Four rows on every line

  1. 1Arabic text in tajweed coloursThe first, bold row is the Quranic text. Ghunnah (including idgham, iqlab and ikhfa), qalqalah and tafkheem are marked in colour, explained in a key at the foot of each page.
  2. 2Word-by-word translationThe second and third rows give the literal meaning of every word, by Sabir Qarni. Nouns, verbs, particles and pronouns each have a colour, in both the Arabic and the translation.
  3. 3Context in greyWhere the meaning in context goes beyond the literal word, the extra sense is shown in grey.
  4. 4Idiomatic translationThe fourth row is the flowing translation by Fateh Muhammad Jalandhari, so the meaning of the verse reads clearly.

Questions

Which edition should I choose?

The para set gives you the Quran as 30 separate paras, handy for reading or teaching a para at a time. The single volume holds the complete Quran in one binding. The 3-volume sets divide it into ten paras per volume. Para 1 and Para 30 are also sold on their own, a good way to start.

What do the colours mean?

On the Arabic text, colours mark tajweed rules. In the word-by-word rows, colours show grammar: nouns, verbs, particles and pronouns. Each page has a key, so you never need to memorise them.
